Eligible Passengers for Volunteer Pilot Program (VPP)
Volunteer pilots are accredited by Hope Air and fly patient in the pilot’s private aircraft. These planes are small, with 4-6 seats. The patient and escort need to be mobile enough to climb into the wing of the plane with limited assistance, and passengers cannot fly with oxygen on board as these planes are non-pressurized cabins. There is limited space for luggage and no bathrooms on the plane.
To ensure safety, VPP clients are screened to confirm they can safely fly in small aircraft, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for both the patient and the pilot.
