Special Needs and Airline Fees: Luggage, Seat Selection, and Second Seat
It is important to outline any special needs you have on the travel request application, such as the need for oxygen, a wheelchair, second seat, or if you are bringing your own mobility aids.
- Luggage Fees
You may be required to pay fees for any checked luggage. Contact the airline after receiving your flight details for more information on luggage fees. Hope Air does not cover additional fees for luggage on airlines.
- Seat Selection
After receiving your flight details, you can contact the airline to request a specific seat. Any fees associated with seat selection are your responsibility. You may also be able to choose your seat for free once check-in opens, 24 hours before your flight.
- Second Seat: One Person, One Fare policy
Hope Air refers patients to the "One Person One Fare" program offered by major airlines. Under this program, carriers may not charge more than one fare for persons with disabilities who require additional seating for themselves, including those determined to be functionally disabled by obesity. It is the patient's responsibility to apply for an extra seat at least 48 to 72 hours before the flight. Once the patient's flight is booked by Hope Air, the patient may contact the airline to apply for an extra seat.
